Canada Day 3

Ok, after a 11 hour flight followed by a 300km road trip from Calgary to Edmonton, I have finally arived in my abode for the next year(ish), after a brief stay in a hotel (the last one found of many, its almost like lots of people are moving to Edmonton this weekend, so all the rooms are full...)

Anyways, after trekking around central Edmonton a few times, Ive finally managed to get bedding for my room, and can now live in it! (YAY! I HAVE A HOME!) and get to know people on my floor.

One hing I have to say about Canada, is that everyone is extremely friendly! From the stetson donning welcoming comittee in Calgary airport to my floormates, everyone is so easy going and sociable, not hard to make friends in this neck of the woods!

One thing I'd like to mention, is tat when Ipulled my desk out from the wall to plug in my 6way adaptor, I found a tiny, tiny thermos/coffee cup, maybe for a dolls house or something? Anyway, this weirded me out, as I have no idea how it got there, but if by any chance, someone is reading this, and has lived in Lister residences, and id missing a tiny coffee cup, let me know!

As I write this, the hour strikes 1am here, so Im going to have to sign off for now, as I need to be up early for an orientation tomorrow moring, so I know hwre the Hell I am supposed to have my classes!

Thanks for reading, see you soon!

Dan.

Greetings

Greetings and salutations to one and all!
Ok, so now you can tell that I have been watching a little too much Frasier this morning, if it is indeed possible to do so...

Anyway, I have been meaning to start a regular blog for a while, but things have always gotten in the way...until now...

In 15 Days time, I shall be leaving these fair shores to begin my year abroad in Alberta, Canada.
Its going to be interesting, as no-one from my course will be there, and only two others from the Leeds Uni will be there, both of whom are on the same civil engineering course...more interesting, as I may not get to know them too well...we shall see!

Anyways, back to the point!

My year abroad gives me the perfect opportunity to start blogging regularly, and also gives the people I have annoyed for so long over here an opportunity to see how I'm doing while away; should be fun! For me maybe, it's you lot that will be reading my seemingly endless rambling.

Hopefully I'll be posting every couple of days re-telling my adventures and how I'm coping with the cold (Daily high temp of -10 celsius in January, or so I am led to believe...) and life over there in general.

For now, I must get back to packing, but I will hopefully posting something new soon!

Dan
